Kazakhstan exports sunflower oil to Georgia

Kazakhstan exported over 300 tonnes of sunflower oil worth more than US$500,000 to Georgia this year. Apart from that, domestic enterprises have increased their exports of fertilizers, wheat and spices. It bears noting that back in May 2022, during the visit of Kazakhstan’s intergovernmental delegation to Tbilisi, the parties reached an agreement on the supply of Kazakh food products to Georgia.

“According to statistical data of the first nine months of 2022, the volume of imports from Kazakhstan into Georgia increased by 75 percent compared to the same period last year, having surpassed US$24 million,” noted Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia.

“We are currently conducting an in-depth study of all promising areas for Kazakhstan’s export products. We believe that Kazakh companies should definitely consider Georgia as a place for further export of their goods to western and eastern markets. The country can offer Kazakhstan more of a logistics opportunity rather than an export market,” added Giorgi Jakhutashvili, Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in Georgia.

Thus, the goods traditionally purchased in Kazakhstan are in demand in the Georgian market. However, experts from that country also suggest expanding logistics ties so that Kazakhstan can enter foreign markets through Georgia, which has a free trade agreement with Europe.
