The flood season in Kazakhstan is proceeding
as normal and remains under the authorities’ control. Daily monitoring and
coordination of all activities are being carried out, as reported by the
Ministry of Emergency Situations at a government meeting. According to the
ministry, the flood season has ended in the southern and western regions of the
country. Its active phase has also passed in the Akmola region, where river
water levels are now decreasing. Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the
fire season. In the fight against forest and steppe fires, satellite monitoring
data and digital technologies will be used. Work has begun on developing an
early forest fire detection system. Surveillance cameras will be installed
locally, and in the event of a fire, the system will send an alert to the
Operational Control Center, which will then notify the Emergency Situations
Ministry’s command center. In addition, an interactive map of Kazakhstan has
been created to display fire hazard classes and indices. The data for this map
is provided by ground-based meteorological stations and satellites.
«The Ministry of Ecology and Natural
Resources, in cooperation with local authorities, the Ministry of Digital
Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry, and Kazakhtelecom, should
expand the coverage of early fire detection systems, fire development modeling,
and firefighting algorithms. I instruct that a corresponding plan be developed,
approved by the government, and its implementation ensured. Local authorities should
continue efforts to establish fire stations and volunteer firefighting units in
populated areas,» noted Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
