During the Nauryznama Decade, a
five-meter long felt panel, known as Tuskiyz, was presented as a gift to
Pavlodar. According to organizers, the creation of this huge patterned
masterpiece took several weeks, with both adults and youth involved in the
process. Schoolchildren actively contributed to sewing it together into one piece.
The final touches were added by the city residents, enthusiastically completing
the large handmade creation. The entire process was accompanied by live music
of the national instruments orchestra. This unique gift will now adorn the
central square during the Nauryz mass festivities. It is worth noting that the
felt carpet vividly depicts Kazakh national traditions.
“We came up with the idea for
this panel last year. Our primary goal was to introduce children to traditional
Kazakh ornaments, each carrying its own meaning. So, the large panel, titled
‘Spring Mood’, features ornaments of animals, birds, plants, and flowers,” said
Gulnar Uissinbayeva, head of a supplementary education center.
“I enjoy crafting national items
by hand. Together with teachers, we felted wool, cut patterns from felt, and
sewed the panel in parts for Nauryz. It is a fascinating process that showcases
the beauty of our national heritage,” said Arai Annazharova, student at a
supplementary education center.
