Kazakhstan to modernize 8 border checkpoints by year-end

By year-end, Kazakhstan will modernize eight checkpoints on the external border of the EAEU. Particular attention is being paid to upgrading infrastructure. As a result of the measures taken, the time required to cross border checkpoints has been reduced from two hours to half an hour. It is worth reminding that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his state-of-the-nation address emphasized the need for further development of the transport and logistics sector. The country must make full use of its transit potential through the North–South, East–West, and Trans-Caspian Transport Corridors.

«There are 55 automobile checkpoints along Kazakhstan’s border. 14 of them are located on the external and 41 on the internal customs border of the Eurasian Economic Union. Work on four checkpoints has already been completed, while the remaining ones are scheduled for 2026 and 2027»,- noted Kazakh Vice Minister of Transport Maksat Kaliakparov.
