Kazakhstan is set to introduce an AI assistant to accelerate
processes in the gas sector. The digital solution will enable residents to
quickly apply for gas connections and expedite the process of obtaining
technical specifications. The project is expected to reach over two million
people within the next two years. These and other digitalization initiatives in
the gas industry were discussed at a government meeting. It was reported that
AI technologies will also be used to issue technical permits for gas
connections to businesses. Application times through the eGov mobile app have
already decreased from two hours to just 10 minutes, with around 50% of such
documents now processed online. In the future, the goal is to double this
figure and bring it to 100%. Additionally, 14 new projects are being
implemented at the Astana Hub as part of the industry’s digitalization efforts.
These include AI-powered reservoir simulators, compressor monitoring systems,
digital twins, drones for inspections, and business process automation
platforms.
«Kazakhstan’s proven natural gas reserves are estimated at 4
trillion cubic meters. However, the development of these resources requires a
systematic approach, new investments, modern infrastructure, and a long-term
strategy. The introduction of digital solutions for metering and monitoring gas
consumption is essential. This will help reduce losses, enhance transparency,
and improve the efficiency of the system. Therefore, I am instructing QazaqGaz,
in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy, to ensure digital accounting of
marketable gas across the entire process—from production to consumption—by
August 1, 2026,» said Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
