Kazakhstan to invest over nine trillion tenge in transport infrastructure

Kazakhstan will attract over nine trillion tenge to develop its transport infrastructure, according to the country’s government. In the aviation sector, new airports will be built in the resort areas of Katon-Karagai National Park, Zaisan, and Kendirli this year. By 2030, 4,700 kilometers of new roads will be built across the country. Major projects will also be implemented in the railway, water, and sea transport sectors. The construction of railway lines under the Dostyk-Moiynty and Almaty bypass projects is expected to be completed. Plans are also in place to open traffic on the Dostyk-Beskol and Moiynty-Balkhash sections. Special attention is being paid to developing the country’s transit potential. In the west of the country, construction has begun on a container hub at the Aktau port, which will increase its throughput capacity. This will boost container transportation along the Trans-Caspian route through Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye, as well as reroute part of the transit cargo from China to Europe.
