Kazakhstan will elaborate a comprehensive plan to provide farmers with domestic seeds. The work for the industry development is carried out on the instruction of the country’s President, the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture reports. Apart from that, a research and production center for seed breeding will be established to reduce import dependence. It will combine selection, seed breeding and production departments. A new information system is planned to be introduced in the sector in 2023. It will enable digital tracking of seed delivery from producers to commercial farms. This will allow monitoring seeds usage, the relevant ministry notes. Overall, state support for plant breeders is increasing. The amount of funding for spring field and harvesting was doubled, having reached 140 billion tenge.
