Over six trillion tenge of investments
will be directed toward the development of Kazakhstan’s energy system. By 2029, 14 existing plants will be
modernized and 15 new facilities commissioned, with a combined capacity of around 7.3 gigawatts. The projects will be implemented
without budget subsidies, using market mechanisms such as
auctions, investment agreements, and tenders. According to the Ministry of
Energy, this will expand installed capacity and ensure reliable electricity supply for the economy and
the population.
«In 2029, we plan to introduce 29 new projects that will reduce the
deterioration of power plants by 17%. This will enhance reliability, provide
additional capacity for the development of the energy system, and fully meet
Kazakhstan’s demand for the required power,» noted Assylzhan Mussin, Director of the Department for Electric Power Development, Kazakh Ministry of Energy.
