IAEA to provide advisory assistance to Kazakhstan on nuclear power plant construction

The next mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is set to arrive in Kazakhstan by year-end. It is worth reminding that specialists provide advisory support to the Kazakh government regarding nuclear power plant construction. During a meeting with IAEA head Rafael Grossi, Mukhtar Tileuberdi, the Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to international organizations in Vienna, noted that the membership in the international organization is of paramount importance for the country. He also spoke about the proposal of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to put the issue of nuclear power plant construction to a nationwide referendum. It should be noted that international experts have already visited the country in spring as part of the IAEA mission, during which they focused on matters related to the development of the nuclear energy infrastructure of Kazakhstan, including the construction of the first nuclear power plant.
