Kazakhstan to expand sown area to 23.7 million hectares

Kazakhstan’s total sown area will increase by 400,000 hectares this year, reaching nearly 24 million. The government has provided an update on preparations for the sowing campaign. The Minister of Agriculture reported that machinery is ready and work on crop diversification continues. Wheat planting is being reduced, while the area for fodder and oilseed crops is increasing. Overall, the spring fieldwork is in full swing. More than 400,000 tonnes of diesel fuel have been allocated at prices 15% below market rates. Fertilizer application volumes have been significantly increased, along with financial support for agricultural producers. Around 385 billion tenge has been earmarked to support spring operations, covering seed and fertilizer supplies, fuel, and farming equipment.

«This year, government support has significantly increased. 700 billion tenge has been allocated for spring fieldwork and harvesting, and another 200 billion for preferential leasing programs. Funding is to be provided only to efficient and responsible producers. Regional authorities have been instructed to ensure continuous monitoring of the proper and targeted use of budget funds,» said Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
