Kazakhstan to expand cooperation with EBRD

Kazakhstan will expand its cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Members of the Mazhilis, a Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament, ratified amendments to the article of the agreement with the Bank. Thus, the EBRD’s operations will now extend to Iraq and African countries. Kazakhstan, as an EBRD member country, will strengthen its cooperation both with the Bank and countries in Africa and the Mediterranean. It is worth noting that Kazakhstan joined the EBRD Establishment Agreement in 1992. With the Bank’s involvement, more than 300 projects have been implemented in the country, totaling over $11 billion.

«The inclusion of Africa in the Bank’s region of operations opens up new opportunities for establishing contacts and investing in projects in countries with populations in the billions. Amendments to Article 1 of the Agreement will strengthen Kazakhstan’s cooperation with the EBRD, as well as with African and Mediterranean countries,» said Kazakh Minister of Finance Madi Takiyev.

Kazakhstan to introduce new forms of state support for aquaculture

Today, the Mazhilis also approved a draft law on aquaculture in the first reading. The document aims to establish legal mechanisms for regulating relations in the industry, enhancing investment appeal, and attracting small and medium-sized businesses to the fisheries sector. The proposed measures are expected to promote the export of domestic fish products and support import substitution.
