Kazakhstan will take part in the
General Assembly of the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI), or the
International Canine Federation, which will consider the country’s accession
application. Full membership will allow to gain world recognition for the
native Kazakh breed of dogs. Last year, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev
instructed to intensify the work on preserving the Tazy and Tobet breeds and promoting
them in the international arena.
“We have fulfilled all the
requirements of the international organization, so there should be no
obstacles. I have no doubt that we are worthy to join the FCI, and we really
hope that we will achieve our goal. We will work hard to have the Tazy dog
breed recognized. Then we will focus on the Tobet dog breed. Tazy has been
included in the FCI breeds nomenclature. We can say that we already have the
Qazaq Tazy brand in reserve. This event will undoubtedly remain in history and
we are very happy about it,” said Bauyrzhan Serikkali, President of the
Kazakhstan Union of Cynologists.
The World Dog Show 2023, a
four-day canine exhibition featuring over 20,000 dogs of various breeds, will
take place in Geneva as part of the FCI General Assembly. The Tazy dogs will compete
for the title of world champion for the first time. Yelena Hardina, a
professional breeder from Oskemen, has bred this dog for 20 years. According to
her, the dogs are ready to represent Kazakhstan at the international
competition. ¤
“I believe that the Kazakh Tazy
dog breed should win. We definitely want to get world recognition. This dog
breed has become so popular today. People in Ukraine, Turkey and Russia love
this beautiful dog. Special kennels were organized in Belarus, a country that
is seriously engaged in this breed. Those Tazy puppies evoke an immediate
feeling of tenderness. People from Italy and the United States also generate
interest,” noted Hardina.
To achieve their goal, Kazakh
cynologists and their four-legged friends have to overcome almost 8,000
kilometers, travel through 10 countries and get to Geneva in seven days.
