UNICEF commends Kazakhstan’s initiatives to protect children’s rights

UNICEF commends Kazakhstan’s efforts in fulfilling international commitments, particularly in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This was noted by Regina De Dominicis, UNICEF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, at a meeting with Kazakh State Counsellor Erlan Karin. He spoke about the country’s key reforms in child protection, including the development of a network of psychological and family support centres and the introduction of new methods to prevent violence and bullying. Additionally, a comprehensive program ‘Kazakhstan Balalary’ (Children of Kazakhstan) is being developed to integrate all areas of state policy in this field.  During the meeting, the country’s Commissioner for Children’s Rights Dinara Zakiyeva also presented the national program ‘Safe Kids.’ For her part, Regina De Dominicis expressed UNICEF’s readiness to cooperate within new regional initiatives.
