Kazakhstan to create digital platforms for land and water resources

Digitalization should become the main driver of Kazakhstan’s development. In his recent state-of-the-nation address, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the need to apply new technologies and neural networks in geological exploration. Digital maps of mineral resources will be created for precise analysis of deposits, along with a unified digital map of land resources. This will help farmers assess soil quality, forecast yields, and select crops. Tokayev also instructed the creation of a unified digital platform for water resources. Powered by artificial intelligence, it will integrate data on both surface and groundwater. According to the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, work on the National Information System is already underway. Kazakh citizens will be able to see not only a map of the country’s water resources but also data on inflows from transboundary waters.

«We recognize that implementing digital technologies will enable efficient water management, resulting in substantial water savings. The system will also provide enhanced transparency in water distribution. The platform is designed not only for water authorities, who will have real-time access to all information, but also for water userssaid Aslan Abdraimov, Kazakh Vice Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation.
