Kazakhstan to become BRICS partner state in 2025

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that Kazakhstan will join BRICS as a partner state starting in 2025. The Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies (KazISS) highlighted that this partnership is a new format of relations within BRICS and therefore it has yet to be tested. Political scientists are convinced that this indicates the strengthening of multi-vector cooperation with the BRICS countries. This international group was created to develop economic partnership, stimulate trade, investment, and technological exchange between developing markets.

«This is the recognition of Kazakhstan, as already noted, as a middle power, a country with significant potential that attracts interest of global powers. These are important partners for us, so we would like to test and try to implement our economic agenda, primarily focusing on non-raw material exports, production, and processing,» said Sanat Kushkumbayev, chief research fellow at the KazISS.
