Kazakh President receives leadership of Constitutional Commission

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a working meeting with the leadership of the Constitutional Commission. The Head of State was briefed on the work on the draft new Constitution by Chair of the Constitutional Commission and Chair of the Constitutional Court Elvira Azimova, Deputy Chair of the Commission and State Counsellor Erlan Karin, and Commission member, Assistant to the President on Legal Issues Yerzhan Zhiyenbayev. Through the eGov and e-Otinish platforms, the public submitted more than 4,000 responses. In their submissions, citizens expressed support for the draft, highlighting its relevance and reflection of societal interests. Political parties, as well as national and regional public associations, also expressed support for the new Constitution. President Tokayev emphasized that the Constitutional Commission’s work should continue in an open format, with careful consideration of all incoming proposals.
