Kazakhstan takes part in 17th Economic Cooperation Organization Summit

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov participated in the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), held in the Azerbaijani city of Khankendi. The meeting focused on issues related to economic cooperation among member states, with particular attention to key areas such as transport and logistics, energy, climate security, and digital transformation. On the sidelines of the summit, a bilateral meeting took place between the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan and the Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan. Olzhas Bektenov and Abdul Ghani Baradar discussed prospects for cooperation in trade and economic relations, transport and logistics, and agriculture. Bektenov noted that, at the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kazakhstan is ready to invest in the construction of the Turgundi-Herat railway, which is expected to boost development across the entire region. A corresponding memorandum is expected to be signed between the parties in the near future.
