Kazakhstan’s Tourism Year kicks off in China

In Beijing, as part of the Year of Kazakhstan Tourism in China, a bilateral forum on tourism and investment development took place, resulting in a series of agreements and memoranda between domestic and Chinese companies. To give participants a closer look at the tourist attractions of all 17 regions of the country, each region shared details about its natural wonders, recreation opportunities, and potential for cooperation. Overall, 1.5 billion tenge has been allocated for promoting Kazakhstan tourism in China this year. It is planned to hold numerous meetings, tours, exhibitions, and presentations in China, which are expected to result in an increase of Chinese tourists to Kazakhstan. According to the forecasts by the relevant ministry, this figure may reach four million people by 2029. The increase in tourist inflow will contribute to the industry’s growth prospects. It is anticipated that the tourism sector could create up to 800,000 new jobs.

“Last year alone, the number of tourists entering Kazakhstan from China increased 15-fold, primarily due to the bilateral relations between our heads of state. This will have a significant impact on the economy, with the signed billion-dollar memoranda also playing a notable role,” said Kazakh Minister of Tourism and Sports Yermek Marzhikpayev.

“We believe that one of the most promising tour products set to captivate the Chinese market is space tourism. Visiting Baikonur and observing spacecraft launches is an exciting and unique offering from Kazakhstan. Additionally, regions will promote agritourism and culinary tourism throughout the year. Overall, the program promises to be highly eventful,” said Kairat Sadvakassov, Chairman of the Kazakh Tourism National Company.

As part of Kazakhstan's Tourism Year opening in China, a grand gala concert was held at the China National Opera House in Beijing, featuring 150 renowned Kazakh artists. At the entrance, an ethno village with a cultural program and a taikazan as a symbol of hospitality were established. After becoming acquainted with national attributes, guests were immersed in the musical world of the Kazakh people. The audience enjoyed the mesmerizing sounds of ancient instruments and spectacular performances by domestic artists, giving them a thunderous applause.

“As a tourist, I am really impressed by everything I’ve seen today. The event’s organization is both captivating and vibrant. The culture of the Kazakh people is beautiful and rich. This year, I am eager to travel and see Kazakhstan firsthand,” shared a Beijing resident Ken Yan.
