Demand for Kazakh uranium continues to rise

The demand for Kazakh uranium is on the rise. Kazakhstan is a leading exporter of nuclear fuel, accounting for 43 percent of global supplies. The country plays a crucial role in carbon-free electricity production on a global scale. Thus, the UAE has expressed interest in natural uranium concentrate. For the first time in history, the two countries have signed a contract for the supply of atomic fuel for a nuclear power plant. Kazakhstan may also become an alternative uranium supplier to Eastern European countries, considering the current discussions about giving up nuclear fuel supplied by Russia. Some nuclear power plants intend to enter into new contracts by 2025, and negotiations are underway. Besides, this year, there are plans to open a third export route for uranium shipment through one of the Chinese ports. To date, nuclear fuel is transported through Russia and the Caspian Sea to the Black Sea.
