Over a million tonnes of cargo
have been transported through the Kuryk port, with plans to increase this
figure to 2.3 million tonnes in the future by constructing additional docks and
a grain terminal. The grain terminal will have an annual capacity to store and
ship up to one million tonnes of grain. The project is scheduled to launch
later this year. Furthermore, a comprehensive plan has been developed to
establish a large maritime transport and logistics cluster at the port, with
dredging operations currently underway. Terminal operations will also change,
and the port’s capacity will be increased. Moreover, the dock area for ship
parking will expand to 220 hectares.
«The main feature of the Kuryk
port is the lack of strong winds within its area. Therefore, the car and train
ferries operate non-stop throughout the year. We have attracted various parties
seeking to establish partnerships with us,» said Serik Akhmetov, General
Director of Kuryk port.
«A company has already been
selected to carry out dredging works across the entire port area. These efforts
aim to create five additional docks within the port’s waters,» said Aitkali
Nurmagambetov, spokesperson for Kuryk port.
