In the first four months of 2024,
Kazakhstan’s manufacturing industry growth rate exceeded 105 percent. The
production volume reached over seven trillion tenge in monetary terms, with
processed goods exports surpassing $5.6 billion, according to Minister of
Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapayev. Reporting on the key sectors
overseen by the ministry at a government meeting, he noted that this year, the
metallurgical sector grew slightly over five percent, with plans to implement
21 projects totaling over 464 billion tenge in investment. Machinery experienced
a 22 percent increase, while the chemical, light manufacturing, and
construction materials sectors showed modest growth rates. The minister also discussed
the planned establishment of small industrial zones in eight regions covering a
total area of 200,000 square meters, with 30 billion tenge allocated for
construction.
“For 2024, there are 180 projects worth 1.5
trillion tenge in the project pool, expected to create around 18,000 permanent
jobs. Among them are the production of truck components, ceramic tiles,
thermal insulation materials, ferrosilicon, and tungsten concentrate. The
production volume from these projects will amount to 1.6 trillion tenge, with
exports reaching 600 billion tenge and import substitution at one trillion
tenge,” Sharlapayev said.
Kazakhstan to increase petroleum and gas
chemical industry production by 75%
The government also plans to increase the
production volumes of the petrochemical industry by 75 percent by the end of
the year. Thus, in January-April, the production growth rate of the industry’s
products doubled compared to the same period last year, reaching over 213,000
tonnes. According to Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliyev, Kazakhstan will
implement five major projects over the next five years, totaling over $14
billion in investment.
“These projects will ensure an annual economic
growth of 1.5 percent. This year, construction will begin on a project
for producing butadiene and its derivatives with a capacity of up to 340,000
tonnes. An investment decision will be made on one of the largest projects in
the country’s history, involving a polyethylene production project with a
capacity of 1.2 million tonnes,” Satkaliyev noted.
