Kazakhstan and the EU countries
are committed to expanding and enhancing their trade, economic, and investment
cooperation, as discussed during the 15th meeting of the Kazakhstan-EU dialogue
platform. The parties are set to focus on logistics, particularly the
development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Considering
Kazakhstan’s role as a transit hub connecting Europe and Asia, the Middle
Corridor ensures maximum attractiveness for trade flows. Moreover, this route
offers the most competitive delivery time of 12-15 days.
«The EU is Kazakhstan’s largest
and most significant investment and trade partner. It accounts for more than 40
percent of attracted investments and about 30 percent of foreign trade.
Kazakhstan, being at the crossroads of key transport corridors, is a transit
hub between Europe and Asia, providing access to the world’s largest markets.
In this context, I would like to note the strategic importance of the Middle
Corridor. Today, about 85 percent of goods from China to Europe are transported
through Kazakhstan. In general, we are interested in the further development of
the Middle Corridor and are determined to expand logistics connections with the
European countries,» ¤Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov said.
Trade turnover between
Kazakhstan and EU countries increased by more than 36 percent over the past
five years. Exports rose by 30 percent. In the first five months of 2024,
mutual trade between the parties increased by nearly 16 percent. Furthermore,
EU countries invested over $10 billion in Kazakhstan’s economy last year, and
$2.8 billion in the first quarter of this year.
