Kazakhstan, Russia intend to increase trade turnover to $30 billion

Kazakhstan and Russia are set to enhance cooperation. The prospects for implementing new projects were discussed in Astana by Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and his Russian counterpart, Mikhail Mishustin. To date, 99 joint projects have been implemented in industrial cooperation, valued at over $18.5 billion. There is also potential for collaboration in the transport and logistics sector. The growth in transit traffic through Kazakhstan contributes to the development of the country's road and rail infrastructure. Furthermore, new water transport routes are being opened. Overall, Russia is one of Kazakhstan’s key trading partners. In the first 11 months of last year, trade turnover between the two countries exceeded $24 billion, and under agreements between the Heads of State, it is set to reach $30 billion.

«More than 23,000 companies with Russian participation are operating in Kazakhstan, accounting for nearly 40% of all foreign-owned enterprises. We are, of course, interested in creating new production facilities and implementing new joint projects. We encourage Russian companies to actively participate in the implementation of various joint investment projects in Kazakhstan,» Bektenov said.

«Key transit routes of Eurasia pass through the territory of Kazakhstan and Russia. We place great emphasis on developing the International North-South Corridor and are confident that, in the future, it will become a global transport artery serving the interests of the states across the entire Eurasian region. Kazakhstan will become a true crossroads of Eurasia,» Mishustin said.
