Kazakhstan, Russia aim to boost economic cooperation

Mutual trade between Kazakhstan and Russia has reached nearly $30 billion. Russia remains one of the largest investors in Kazakhstan’s economy, with investments totaling $28.5 billion over the past 20 years, and more than $2 billion attracted in the first nine months of last year. Kazakhstan, in turn, has invested around $9 billion in the Russian economy. Issues related to the development of trade, economic, and investment cooperation were discussed by Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, who arrived in Astana for a working visit. The parties also addressed the implementation of projects in the industrial, energy, and transport sectors. Particular attention was paid to the environmental agenda, including the preservation of the Caspian Sea ecosystem and the development of joint environmental initiatives. Additionally, Mikhail Mishustin extended his congratulations to the people of Kazakhstan on the adoption of the new Constitution. Following the talks, both sides confirmed their commitment to further expanding cooperation.
