President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov agreed to increase the mutual trade to US$1 billion. The parties signed 14 documents on cooperation in trade, energy, agriculture and other areas in Astana last weekend. President Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan is ready to increase exports to Turkmenistan in 80 commodity items. In turn, the Turkmen leader stressed that Ashgabat and Astana will continue to implement large-scale energy projects, including the Turkmenistan - China gas pipeline. The parties also intend to expand the capabilities of the North-South railway corridor, which runs from Russia to the Indian Ocean along the Caspian coast.
