Kazakhstan, Netherlands set to boost cooperation

The Netherlands is ready to support Kazakhstan in the implementation of new technologies in the agricultural sector, transport, logistics, energy, and IT. A business delegation from the Kingdom of the Netherlands has arrived in Kazakhstan. Entrepreneurs and investors familiarized themselves with the transit and infrastructure opportunities of the Aktau and Kuryk seaports and participated in the first bilateral business council. A number of agreements are expected to be signed as a result of the meetings, marking new milestones in cooperation. Notably, the Netherlands is one of the largest investment, trade and economic partners of Kazakhstan in the European Union. Over the past 20 years, investments in the country have totaled around $112 billion. Last year alone, trade between the two countries reached nearly $4.5 billion. The technological solutions offered by Dutch companies will contribute to increasing production efficiency and improving environmental sustainability.

«Today, the key provisions of the Netherlands-Kazakhstan Business Council will be signed, outlining the working committees, including those for transport and logistics. We will also set future plans, such as holding the next year’s business council in the Netherlands. From November 1-3, a delegation from the Netherlands is expected to visit the AGRO-WORLD exhibition in Almaty, which will include a large delegation of 20 companies focused on the development of greenhouse farming, such as greenhouses for growing tomatoes, as well as the flower business,» said Anuar Kurzhikayev, Director General of the BeNeLux Chamber of Commerce.

«We see there is a need to develop new connections between Central Asia, China and Europe and these connections go through Kazakhstan. To make the potential happen, we need new infrastructure such as improved railway lines, improved port infrastructure. We have them in our mission, all these competences and we would like to connect them to the Kazakh ecosystem,» noted Henk Nieboer, Chairman of the board of the Netherlands-Kazakhstan Business Association.
