Kazakhstan produces 11,000 tonnes of uranium in first half of 2024

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Chief Executive Officer of Kazatomprom National Atomic Company Meirzhan Yussupov, who presented a report on the outcomes of the company’s activities for the first half of 2024. Yussupov noted that around 11,000 tonnes of uranium were produced and 8,000 tonnes were sold over the six-month period. The Head of State was also informed about ongoing projects and plans for further expansion of the national company’s exploration asset portfolio.

«The Head of State was informed about ongoing projects aimed at expanding and replenishing the country’s mineral resource base. One of the outcomes of this work is the expansion of the deposit due to the third mining site at the Inkai deposit, which is estimated to increase uranium reserves by 83,000 tonnes. President Tokayev emphasized the importance of geological exploration and replenishment of the resource base, and instructed to continue the work in this direction,» said Yussupov.
