Kazakhstan plans to double its mechanical engineering output by 2028, as was announced at a government meeting that discussed the prospects for industry development. According to the Ministry of Industry, over the past nine months, investments in mechanical engineering, a leader within the manufacturing sector, have doubled to 124 billion tenge, while production volume exceeded three trillion tenge. The automotive industry accounts for nearly 40% of this output, and several new plants are currently under construction. Growth will focus on deepening localization and producing components, with new facilities for multimedia systems and car seats expected to open this year. Railway and electrical engineering sectors are also advancing alongside automotive manufacturing, driven by rising demand for local products. To modernize existing enterprises and establish new ones, 600 billion tenge and skilled labor are required.
«The ministry is addressing workforce needs by working with enterprises to enhance personnel training. Current programs have been developed based on dual training. They combine theoretical instruction in educational institutions with hands-on industrial practice in factories,» said Kazakh Minister of Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapayev.
