The Kazakh
government plans to directly purchase 350,000 tonnes of wheat from agricultural
producers. This initiative aims to support domestic farmers who have been
affected by unfavorable weather conditions this year. These measures were
discussed at a meeting of the State Commission on the Issues of Modernization of
the Economy of Kazakhstan chaired by the country’s Prime Minister Alikhan
Smailov. Thus, the purchase prices of the National Company Food Contract
Corporation will be set as part of the forward purchase of wheat. Additionally,
farmers will be able to fulfill their loan obligations without paying penalties
or by substituting one class of grain for another. Those unable to meet these
conditions will receive a one-year contract extension. Smailov emphasized that
the direct purchase of feed wheat by Food Contract Corporation will have an
impact on the grain market and improve the financial situation of agricultural
producers. He instructed state agencies to promptly commence work on providing
support to farmers.
