Kazakhstan is ready to increase its exports to the Pakistani
market across 85 commodity items, totaling nearly $500 million. The product
list is set to expand in sectors such as petrochemicals, metallurgy, chemicals,
pharmaceuticals, the food industry, and engineering. Over the past eight
months, trade between Kazakhstan and Pakistan reached $40 million, reflecting a
16 percent growth. This was announced during a meeting between the Prime
Ministers of the two countries in Islamabad, held as part of the meeting of the
Council of Heads of Government of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation
Organization (SCO).
Olzhas Bektenov also discussed agricultural
cooperation with his Pakistani counterpart Shehbaz Sharif. The volume of
Kazakhstan’s agricultural exports has nearly doubled, surpassing $7.5 million.
Kazakhstan is also ready to boost its annual grain exports to Pakistan to two
million tonnes. Additionally, the parties discussed the prospects for the
development of the existing multimodal route «Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan»
and the new transport corridor «Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan.»
