Kazakhstan modernizes nine automobile checkpoints

Kazakhstan is continuing its large-scale modernization of vehicle checkpoints. Currently, nine border crossing points with China, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan are being upgraded. According to the relevant ministry, the work is expected to be completed this year. As a result, border crossing times are anticipated to be reduced to half an hour. Additionally, 30 more checkpoints will undergo phased modernization from 2026 to 2030. The complete upgrade is set to double throughput capacity from 100,000 to 200,000 vehicles per day. In total, 52 checkpoints are located along the state border. Furthermore, an automated electronic queue system has been implemented at all 10 automobile checkpoints on the external border of the Eurasian Economic Union. This system has helped eliminate traffic congestion along major national roads and ensured transparency in the transportation process.
