Kazakhstan marks Nauryz holiday with grand festivities

Kazakhstan marked Nauryz with large-scale celebrations in Astana at the EXPO exhibition center, where a large ethnographic village featured yurts, a crafts exhibition, and sports areas. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated citizens, highlighting that Nauryz is an integral part of Kazakhstan’s ancient traditions, symbolizing renewal of vitality, and is renowned for acts of kindness and solidarity. He also pointed out that 2025 will be a year of significant anniversaries: 30 years of the Constitution and the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, 80 years of the Great Victory, and the upcoming 40th anniversary of independence. Tokayev emphasized the country’s goal of becoming a strong and advanced state, ready to adapt to new geopolitical realities.

The festive concert featured representatives from various ethnic groups living in Kazakhstan. Artisans from abroad joined the celebration to share the joy of spring’s arrival and foster a spirit of friendship, presenting their crafts. National athletes also took part, showcasing their skills in traditional sports, including archery, wrestling, and assyk.

The public celebrations were held on a grand scale in Almaty. The Nauryz Fest took place on Abai Square, becoming a true symbiosis of traditions and technologies. Visitors explored a kinetic tunnel, witnessed the latest robotics advancements, and attended a book fair featuring direct interactions with writers.
