Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with King
Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan. The Head of State expressed gratitude to
the Jordanian leader for his contribution to strengthening the bonds of
friendship and cooperation between the two countries. He noted that Jordan is
widely recognized by the international community for its unwavering commitment
to peace and stability.
«I came with the goal to give additional impetus to our
friendship, to our economic ties, and I believe that we share common attitudes
and assessments with regard to what is happening in the world, but at the same
time, we are very much interested in having closer ties on the bilateral level.
We are ready to work hard as far as our cooperation is concerned and,
generally, of course, regard Jordan as a friendly, brotherly state,» Tokayev
said.
The King of Jordan, in turn, emphasized that the visit of
President Tokayev opens up broad opportunities for expanding bilateral
cooperation. Key topics of the talks included trade, investment, industry,
agriculture, transport and logistics, tourism, energy, and pharmaceuticals. The
discussions resulted in the adoption of a Joint Statement by the Heads of
State, along with the signing of five memorandums and agreements, as well as
ten interdepartmental and commercial documents. Notably, Kazatomprom and JUMCO
will begin cooperation in the uranium sector.
«According to this agreement, both parties will explore the
opportunities here in Jordan. The parties will embark on exploration works and
studies on potential mining of uranium here in Jordan. We have met with the
Minister of Investments today and have discussed the potential opportunities in
the fields of gas and air transportation,» said Samruk-Kazyna CEO Nurlan
Zhakupov.
President Tokayev presented the King of Jordan with
Kazakhstan’s highest state award, the Order of Altyn Qyran, noting King
Abdullah’s significant personal contribution to strengthening Kazakh-Jordanian
ties. As part of his official visit, the Head of State also toured the Jordan
Museum, where he was briefed on its history and observed the exhibition halls,
viewing rare artifacts and exhibits. At the conclusion of his visit, President
Tokayev left an entry in the Book of Honored Guests.
