Kazakhstan has taken a leading position in the
transformation of regional aviation. This view was expressed in an exclusive
interview with Kazinform International News Agency by Salvatore Sciacchitano, President of the Council of the
International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). According to him, Kazakhstan
has achieved a high level of compliance with ICAO safety standards and has made
significant progress in developing its aviation sector. This advancement, he
noted, has been largely driven by comprehensive reforms in the industry.
Sciacchitano also emphasized that Kazakhstan has the potential to become a key
transport hub not only at the regional level but also globally. Its strategic geographic
location between Europe and the Asia-Pacific region provides favorable
conditions for expanding air connectivity. In addition, to enhance the appeal
of its aviation market, Kazakhstan is implementing an open skies policy. At the
same time, the national carrier is showing steady growth and confident
development in line with global standards.
«I want to just stress once more that the progress of civil
aviation of Kazakhstan is a model for the region. This is a region between
Europe that has been, let's say, a matured market and Asia Pacific that was a
developing market. What we see in the future is that the traffic is moving from
the mature markets towards the developing countries. Сurrently, only 20% of the
world population can travel because there is a limited accessibility or limited
affordability in terms of tickets. Well, the traffic will move towards this
region,» Sciacchitano said.
