Kazakhstan, India plan to strengthen economic cooperation

Kazakhstan and India are strengthening economic cooperation. In the first six months of 2025 alone, trade between the two countries amounted to $505 million, with Kazakhstan’s exports accounting for almost half - $250 million. A surge in shipments to the Indian market was recorded in June, when goods worth $180 million were exported. Kazakhstan mainly supplies oil, phosphorus, and metals to India, while India exports medicines, tea, and industrial equipment to Kazakhstan. By the end of last year, the total trade volume between the two countries reached $900 million, and both sides expect further growth. Diplomats identify pharmaceuticals, healthcare, IT, energy, and metals as promising areas of cooperation.

«As I said Kazakhstan is richly blessed with natural resources like gold, for example. India is known as the largest consumer of gold; Kazakhstan is one major gold producing country. Kazakhstan is one of big producers of petroleum, I mean crude oil. India is a big importer of petroleum and petroleum products. So, there is a huge potential for enhancing our trade and commerce relations,» noted Sailas Thangal, Ambassador of India to Kazakhstan.
