Kazakhstan implements AI technologies in justice sector

A Kazakh startup has raised $1 million from an American venture capital investor. The company develops innovative solutions for document management, enabling users to sign contracts via SMS and other verification methods. Today, the government reviewed the potential for digital transformation in the justice sector. The Ministry of Justice provides 94 types of public services, with nearly 90% available online. Last year, of the 14 million public services delivered, 88% were accessed remotely. As part of the digital transformation, over 60 essential processes have been reengineered, including expert examinations, legal consultations, and court decision enforcement. The number of online powers of attorney is also increasing. Additionally, Qazaq Law, an AI-powered agent, operates in the country to automate the legislative process.

«The AI agent was created based on ChatGPT but was later enhanced. We use it to support digital transformation efforts. It has helped us develop recommendations to accelerate the creation of information systems for government agencies, reducing the timeline from 18-24 months to 4-6 months. We are confident that integrating artificial intelligence will be a powerful tool for further advancing the justice system,» said Zhaslan Madiyev, Kazakh Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry.
