Kazakhstan, Hungary negotiate oil supplies

Kazakhstan is ready to supply oil to Hungary. To this end, plans are in place to use the Druzhba pipeline, Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced. According to the Kazakh Ministry of Energy, at this stage, the technical feasibility of transportation from the Kazakh side has been confirmed, while commercial matters are under discussion. The exact terms and conditions of supply will be determined after the signing of the relevant documents. Last year, Kazakhstan exported over 68 million tonnes of crude oil. Notably, Hungarian companies have expressed readiness to invest in the development of new oil fields in Kazakhstan.

«The Hungarian company, an oil and gas company called MOL, has been investing steadily in the Kazakh energy sector. They have invested around $200 million when it comes to the Rozhkovskoye field, from where they have been exploiting more than 300 million cubic meters of gas so far and 200,000 tonnes of condensate. They have been exploring many opportunities, among them the field called Berezovsky,» Szijjártó said.
