Kazakhstan increased its rice exports. In the first six months of 2022, it rose by 31 percent. In monetary terms, the figure reached US$22.3 million, QazTrade reports. Analysts say that Russian consumers show increased demand for domestic products. The growth of the ruble is also one of the reasons for this, as it has become more profitable for Kazakh businesses to export goods to the neighboring country. According to the Trade Policy Development Center, until late August, Kazakhstan will have enough rice reserves from last year. And the next rice harvest is expected already on September 1. Thus, together with the imported rice stock, it will be enough to satisfy the demand of Kazakh citizens, experts say.
