Kazakh President receives Minister of Industry and Construction

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed Minister of Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapayev to urgently restore housing destroyed by the recent natural disaster. Sharlapayev reported on the completion of design and estimate documentation for constructing new houses in the affected areas. Overall, this year Kazakhstan plans to put into operation over 18 million square meters of housing and launch a new mortgage program, with 300 billion tenge allocated for financing. The minister also highlighted the growth of the manufacturing industry.

“In the first two months of 2024, the manufacturing sector saw a 7.4% increase, with metallurgy, mechanical engineering, and the chemical industry leading the surge. I also reported that last year we held transparent and open auctions for geological exploration of deposits in Kazakhstan. This marked the inaugural participation of major international companies in these auctions, indicating substantial interest from global investors in the mining industry,” Sharlapayev said.
