Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev instructed Minister of Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapayev to
urgently restore housing destroyed by the recent natural disaster. Sharlapayev
reported on the completion of design and estimate documentation for constructing
new houses in the affected areas. Overall, this year Kazakhstan plans to put
into operation over 18 million square meters of housing and launch a new
mortgage program, with 300 billion tenge allocated for financing. The minister also
highlighted the growth of the manufacturing industry.
“In the first two months of 2024,
the manufacturing sector saw a 7.4% increase, with metallurgy, mechanical
engineering, and the chemical industry leading the surge. I also reported that
last year we held transparent and open auctions for geological exploration of
deposits in Kazakhstan. This marked the inaugural participation of major
international companies in these auctions, indicating substantial interest from
global investors in the mining industry,” Sharlapayev said.
