Kazakhstan, Finland strengthen economic cooperation

Kazakhstan and Finland intend to strengthen economic ties and increase the volume of bilateral trade. According to the State Revenue Committee, trade turnover between the two countries reached about $172 million in 2024. Experts note that there remains significant potential for further growth. In recent years, Finnish investors’ interest in the Kazakh economy has grown considerably. While in 2024 the inflow of direct investments from Finland amounted to nearly $42 million, in the first half of 2025 alone it has already exceeded $24 million. Kazakhstan exports industrial and chemical products, ferrous metal products, and components for mechanical engineering to Finland. High-tech and industrial equipment, as well as passenger cars, are supplied from Finland to Kazakhstan.

«I think both countries are ready to strengthen their ties. What makes our country interesting to Finland? First and foremost, Finland is interested in our raw material resources. We could also cooperate more actively in establishing joint ventures and productions,» noted Dauren Aben, Deputy Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of Kazakhstan.
