Kazakhstan’s export of processed
agricultural products amounted to $626.5 million in the first three months of
this year. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the country is one of the
world’s leading exporters of flour, with two million tonnes of this type of
products being shipped abroad in 2022 and 2023. The ministry notes that the
main emphasis is placed on products of deep grain processing, such as pasta,
flour, confectionery, and starch products. Implementation of three projects has
already begun in several regions of the country, including in Astana, as well
as in the Kostanai and Turkistan regions. Overall, 13 such facilities will be
launched in Kazakhstan by 2026. The share of agricultural products processing is
expected to reach 70 percent by 2028.
“A total of 58 projects worth over 176 billion
tenge are set to be implemented as part of the Comprehensive Plan which will give
a strong impetus to the development of the food and processing industries, leading
to a 1.4-fold increase in the gross production of processed products,” said
Kazakh Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov.
