The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and China has reached a record high. Since the beginning of the year, it has amounted to $36.5 billion, which is 11 percent higher than in 2023. This was discussed at the fifth Central Asia-China Foreign Ministers’ meeting. Both sides are ready to increase mutual trade. In particular, they aim to strengthen cooperation in the transit and transport sector, energy, industrial cooperation, as well as in the non-resource exports of domestic goods.
To support the development of the latter, Kazakhstan and China have also improved the cargo transportation process. Thus, the exchange of foreign permits has been transferred to an online format. This will increase the speed and efficiency of cargo passage, thereby boosting the flow. The passage of the first trucks has already been tested in a trial mode. Notably, since the beginning of the year, Kazakhstan and China have issued 190,000 permit documents. This is another record high.
