Kazakhstan and China are ushering
in a new era of cultural exchange with the launch of new joint projects in this
realm. This development unfolded during the Kazakhstan-China Forum on
Strengthening Cultural Exchange in Astana, held in anticipation of the SCO
Summit and during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit. Kazakh Minister of
Culture and Information Aida Balayeva addressed the event’s opening on behalf
of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. According to the Head of State,
Kazakhstan-China relations have reached a new level today, echoing the forum’s
theme of «A New Chapter in Good Neighborly Relations.»
«Culture and art serve as a golden bridge
connecting countries and civilizations. Ahead of the SCO Summit,
cultural centers of the two countries will begin operations. This initiative
opens pathways for further development in bilateral cooperation. Moreover, new
joint projects in education, science, and tourism will be implemented. It is
hoped that today’s forum will bolster the amicable relations between Kazakhstan
and China, founded on good neighborliness,» Balayeva said.
During the forum, two memoranda of cooperation
were signed, including one between China Media Corporation’s scientific
research institute and Gumilyov Eurasian National University, and another
between the Eurasian Bureau of China Media Corporation and the Kazakh Tourism
national company.
