Kazakhstan, China launch second season of Silk Way Star

The second season of the international music project Silk Way Star is set to premiere soon. Filming of the joint production by the Kazakh President’s TV and Radio Complex and China Media Group is underway in Yiwu, China. The competition brings together contestants from 12 countries. This season features a new format: no artists will be eliminated after their performances. All participants will compete in all ten episodes, with the overall winner determined by the cumulative score earned throughout the season. Each episode will also name a Star of the Episode. Kazakhstan is represented by Rukhiya Baidukenova. Many of the show’s creative elements are being kept under wraps, leaving viewers to discover them when the episodes air.

«The project consists of 10 rounds, each in a different musical genre. In more than half of my performances, I will incorporate traditional Kazakh instruments such as the sybyzgy and dombyra, as well as throat singing. It is a great honor to represent Kazakhstan in such a large-scale project. It's an exciting competition, and I believe my country will support me,» said Rukhiya Baidukenova, Silk Way Star contestant from Kazakhstan.

«With South Africa, Brazil and New Zealand joining the competition, Silk Way Star has become a truly global event. That's exactly what makes this season so special,» said Hong Bing, Chief Music Director of Silk Way Star.
