Artist from Almaty creates ethnic paintings

An artist from Almaty creates realistic paintings infused with ethnic elements. Her portraits, adorned with traditional ornaments, lend a distinct national flavor to her canvases. Dinara Usman is particularly skilled at depicting female images - her favorite subject and a daily source of inspiration. Her works often feature beautiful women in national attire and traditional jewelry. One such painting, The Princess and the Pea, was completed in just a few days. The artist pays special attention to the eyes, rendering them with meticulous detail. She believes the eyes are the mirror of the soul.

«When you start creating, the inspiration just flows. You dive in, lose track of time, and just keep painting and painting. I really want to promote Kazakh ethnic culture because there is so much to share about it. And it’s great that Kazakh people buy my works not only in Kazakhstan but also abroad. They help me promote this art so it can be preserved. There’s truly so much to say about Kazakhstan - the steppes, the mountains, the landscapes, the seasons — all of it inspires me,» said artist Dinara Usman.

The artist creates paintings using various techniques, and each of her works is unique. Over the past twenty years, she has created around 500 pieces. Her followers on social media, where Dinara Usman showcases her works, help come up with titles for the artworks, and her sons love painting alongside their mother.

«Sometimes I paint next to her. I love waking up, peeking into the living room, and seeing a painting that was almost finished overnight,» shared Dinara Usman’s son Daniyal Rustambekov.

Dinara Usman’s paintings are held in private collections in New York, Los Angeles, and Dubai. The artist dreams of seeing her works displayed in the Louvre in Paris.
