Kazakhstan, China discuss water cooperation

Over 100 Kazakh water sector specialists will participate in advanced training seminars in China next year, following an agreement reached during a meeting in Astana. The two-week courses will be conducted quarterly, according to the relevant ministry. Today, there is a strong emphasis on expanding international cooperation in the water sector and sharing expertise. So far this year, over 500 specialists have successfully completed courses at specialized centres.

«Starting April 2025, four groups of 25 people will participate in the two-week advanced training courses. We have received your official response. Our specialists are now prepared to proceed with these proposals,» said Kazakh Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov.

The meeting also discussed Power China company’s participation in constructing and reconstructing reservoirs in Kazakhstan. The Chinese side expressed its readiness to invest in creating new water management infrastructure.
