Kazakhstan broadens reach of uranium supplies

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received NAC Kazatomprom JSC Chairman Meirzhan Yussupov, who presented the company’s 2025 results and plans for the upcoming period. Last year, the company produced around 26,000 tonnes of uranium, with sales rising 11% to 18,500 tonnes. Kazatomprom is expanding into new markets, signing supply contracts with European energy companies in Switzerland and the Czech Republic, as well as with a Japanese firm. Work continues on concluding a long-term export agreement for natural uranium concentrates to India. Following the meeting, the Head of State issued directives to further develop the resource base, enhance international cooperation, and advance social initiatives.

«Demand for uranium is expected to keep rising. Therefore, systematic efforts are underway to expand our resource base. Operations are ongoing at six sites covering a total area of over 1,000 square kilometers. I also provided updates on social projects, activities in the rare metals sector, and research and development activities. Despite geopolitical instability, the company is fulfilling all its obligations and ensuring uninterrupted uranium supplies worldwide in full compliance with the contractual obligations,» Yussupov said.
