The Kazakh government has
approved the National Infrastructure Plan until 2029, aimed at creating a
sustainable framework to meet the needs of the population and economy. The plan
focuses on four infrastructure sectors, including energy, transportation,
digital, and water supply and sewage systems, with a list of 204 projects
already identified. Specifically, the plan includes the introduction of new
capacities to meet the growing electricity consumption, modernization of
heating networks, and other initiatives. The implementation of these projects
will require over 40 trillion tenge, primarily sourced from non-budgetary
funds. The government notes that these initiatives will have a positive
economic impact, with an expected average GDP growth contribution of 2.3
percent and a gross value added of nearly 25 trillion tenge. One of the plan’s
multiplier effects is the creation of around 150,000 jobs.
