Kazakhstan and Germany sign joint declaration on cooperation

Today, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz who arrived on an official visit to Kazakhstan. The parties discussed the mutual trade turnover which has reached US$4 billion. It increased nearly 1.5 times in 2023. This growth trend has continued into the current year, with mutual trade reaching about US$2.5 billion over the past seven months. Notably, this is the first visit by the distinguished guest to Kazakhstan in 14 years. The parties are confident that it will significantly boost bilateral cooperation, with a focus on deepening integration in energy, green transition, industry, transport, logistics, and education.

 

«I am confident that today's meeting will bring the multifaceted cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany to a new level. Our countries have established strong relations. We have just had a narrow-format meeting on the prospects for further strengthening these bilateral relations. Particular attention was paid to deepening integration in the trade, economic, and investment spheres. We also discussed topical international issues,» noted President Tokayev.

«We strive to improve conditions for our economic relations, make direct investments in your country, and expand opportunities for mutual trade. Of course, we want to develop economic cooperation in all other areas. We are glad that our cooperation in the energy sector is steadily developing. We have established trustful, consistent partnership, which is a good example for the whole world,» said Olaf Scholz, German Federal Chancellor.

Following the negotiations, the parties adopted a joint declaration on cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany, along with several memoranda.
