Kazakh entrepreneurs managed
to enhance trade relations with manufacturers from China at the annual exhibition
of Chinese goods in Astana by conducting B2B meetings, establishing business
connections, and signing contracts. The event attracted around 300 business
representatives from China’s leading provinces. Notably, China is among
Kazakhstan’s largest trade and strategic partners, with a dynamic increase in
bilateral trade turnover, which surged by 33 percent to over $31 billion in
2023.
«I am convinced that this exhibition will
give a powerful impetus to deepening and accelerating trade and economic
relations between our two countries and will definitely contribute to the
fulfillment of the task set by the heads of state to double the mutual trade
turnover in the coming years,» said Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Zhang
Xiao.
The enhancement of
trade relations is driven by the development of transport and logistics
connections, as well as e-commerce. Kazakhstan’s national pavilion has been
launched on major Chinese marketplaces such as JD.com and Alibaba. Currently,
efforts are underway to establish access for domestic producers to another
popular platform in China. It bears noting that Kazakhstan aims to become a key
transit hub for e-commerce, leveraging its geographical position.
«Today, the country has established connections
with such provinces as the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) and
Sichuan. Also, active cooperation is underway with Jiangsu province, where the
Central Asia-Kazakhstan international center will open in September. Kazakhstan
will be represented there with its goods, as well as representatives of
government and quasi-governmental bodies,» noted Assel Yegemberdieva, deputy
general director of the QazTrade Center for Trade Policy Development.
